Welcome to my blog. Looking through my posts you will find that I love and have a passion for photography and although my expertise so to speak is in Sports Action, I have been getting into wildlife and senior portraits. No matter what I'm shooting I want to bring my client the best possible shot I can and give them / you a photograph that you will cherish for a lifetime. If your looking for someone to capture your child in action, to show the intensity and emotion in which your child plays, look no further. Just drop me a line (e-mail) at homerkenpo@aol.com. Bolsa Chica Wet Lands

After been down and out with the flu for about a week I was finally able to get out for some shooting.  Went to my normal stomping grounds at Bolsa Chica to see what I could find.

It was a cool breezy evening with little activity, but it was worth simply being outside after being stuck in the house for a week.

Downside - I believe my shutter is out for the count.  Just as the fog and clouds started working their way back I noticed that my shots had a huge white line across the shot.  At first I thought I was simply getting a reflection from the water, but as I looked further I noticed it wasn't and was in all of the last group of shots I took (approx 25).  So it looks like I'll be taking the drive to Canon this Wednesday to see what can be done.  Money I don't have, but it needs to be fixed.

The below shot shows the white I was getting in the shot.

Yorba Regional Park

This is a very short post.

Was a chilly weekend and instead of staying indoors relaxing under a blanket with the wife and kitties, I decided to get out both Saturday and Sunday.  I posted some shots from my Saturday out and now its time for Sunday's outing.  I've been wanting to head out to the Yorba Regional Park, which has several ponds and various wildlife to see what kind of activity I could find.

It turned out to be another quite day out, but still a great day to simply be outside, which to be honest is why I head out now and then.

This first shot isn't from Yorba Regional Park, but taken just in front of my house prior to leaving.  Was able to capture a quick shot before he got scared off and flew away.

There wasn't much activity and the shots I did get were not up to my standards.  Needless to say it was not a good shooting day for me, but I still didn't want to make it a total photography waste so I took two of my shots that were being deleted and played a bit.  The below shots are what I came up.

Here's one of the wife who braved the cold with me for a drive and walk in the park.  Love you dear.

Bolsa Chica Wet Lands

Its been awhile since I've been out to Bolsa Chica so this past Saturday I decided to head out to see what I would find.  The activity was pretty much non-existent, but I was able to get some great shots of this Pintail

After the Pentail I decided to take the walk to the mid-section of the wet lands, but the activity was even less there.  I did notice this Western Grebe who had an oyster clamped down on its lower beak.  I felt sorry for this Grebe who appeared worn out with its head resting on his breast.  Every few minutes he would raise up out of the water while trying to shake the oyster off with negative results.  There was another Western Grebe who stayed close, which I could only assume was his mate.

CSLB Men's Basketball vs Cal State Northridge

Always a pleasure covering Cal State Long Beach basketball.  I love the attitude and fell of the stadium and crowd, regardless of how small they are.

Last night's game found the 49er's going against Cal State Northridge.  Had a great time shooting these athlete's, who never fail to amaze me.

Here are my favorites from the game.

My Favorites of 2012

Another year has come and gone and now its time to reflect on what I did with my photography.  Am I famous and know throughout the world?  Well no, and to be honest, I don't care.  Am I where I want to be with my photography?  The answer to that question is a simple yes, yes I am.

I don't do what I do for anything other than my enjoyment.  Yes I do make a little bit of money doing what I love, but that's not the focus.  The focus is my love, my passion, in being out and shooting.  Now if you follow me then you already know what I'm known for, and that my sports action photography, but I don't let that stop me from trying different things, weather it's for me, a friend, or a client, I try to give them the best I can and something they can be proud of hanging on their wall.

So let me share with you my favorite shots from this past year.  Are these my best, well that's a matter of opinion, I will say these stand out to me for one reason or another.

Hope you all had a wonderful year and I look forward to seeing where this new year takes us all.
