CSLB Dirtbags Baseball vs Wichita Shockers

Was able to get out and shoot some baseball today.  Cal State Long Beach Dirtbags vs the Wichita Shockers.  Now my contact and the schools site indicated game time at 2pm, so I thought I'd show up a little early to get some warm up shots.  Well I'm glad I did because once I arrived I at just after 1pm I saw that the game was already going and once I got into the park they were in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

No worries, I just got into my groove quicker and shot the rest of the game.

Enjoy the shots.

Jordan High vs Palm Desert - CIF Playoffs 2nd Round

Covered the 2nd round of the CIF Playoffs for boys soccer with Jordan High going against Palm Desert at Jordan High School.

This was a very aggressive game on both sides, which provided me with some nice action to capture.

I haven't been covering much sports action lately, so it was nice to get out and shoot this game.  I used my new Canon 7D Mark II for this game and felt better with it and the controls.  I think this is going to be a great addition to my gear.

Please enjoy the shots as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Cal State Long Beach Baseball vs University of Michigan

I've recently bought a Canon 7D Mark II to replace some stolen gear.  This was the first time I took this camera out to shot a game.  I will say I really liked the responsiveness of the camera along with my 300 f/2.8L, but have to say I wasn't happy with the lack of sharpness I obtained.  The settings are a lot different than what I'm used to from my other camera (Canon 1D Mark IIn), but I'm sure its just a matter of fine turning the settings to get what I want.

I don't get as much as I'd like to shoot, especially my sports, but I do what I can when I'm able.  It was fun covering this game and I thought I ended up with some real nice shots, but you be the judge of that.

Enjoy.

Cancer Sucks!

This is way overdue, it has been almost a year since I found out my mom has lung cancer and I'm still at a loss of words.  To be honest I'm still not sure how I feel about it.  I mean I'm sad as to what can happen, it wasn't too long ago I lost my one of my sisters to cancer and that didn't really hit me until much further down the road and then it hit hard.

I"m not justifying why I have or should I say why I don't any emotions towards this, but I that is my beast to carry and get through.

This post is about showing the love two people can have for each other while going through a very hard time in their lives.  I've been wanting to take some pictures of my parents for some time now and it sucks it takes my mom getting cancer that gets me off my ass to get it done, but either way we made plans to get out for some portraits.  My mom is still a little weak from chemo and was a trooper while taking these portraits.  Prior to taking these shots I asked my mom if she wouldn't mind taking a shot or two without her wig, one of the side effects of having cancer and chemo and without hesitation she said she didn't mind at all.  So with that my daughter, mom, and dad went to a local park to get some shots.

Other than the lack of hair, you'd never know she had cancer.  What I see is a couple who love each other very much and are living their life and not letting what's been put in front of them take their happiness away.

Keep the Love
