Seal Beach Surf Championships

This past Saturday was a very busy, but great day. It started by heading out to Seal Beach to meet up with a facebook and sports shooting friend to shoot the Seal Beach Surf Championships.

We met around 7am and spent the morning shooting and talking, it was the perfect day being out side with great weather. I stayed until about 11am when it I had to get home and prepare for my daughters 18th birthday party, which turned out great, but let's get back to the surf.

I've never attended or shot a surfing contest and didn't really know what to expect. I've shot some surfing in the past and knew what to look for, so once it started I did what came naturally and that's capturing the action.

There were various heats consisting of 2-4 surfers at a time. Each of the surfers wore colored shirts so the judges could identify them, so throughout the heats various surfers would wear red, blue, yellow, and white shirts.

With that said I hope you enjoy the shots as much as I enjoyed taking.
