Welcome to my blog. Looking through my posts you will find that I love and have a passion for photography and although my expertise so to speak is in Sports Action, I have been getting into wildlife and senior portraits. No matter what I'm shooting I want to bring my client the best possible shot I can and give them / you a photograph that you will cherish for a lifetime. If your looking for someone to capture your child in action, to show the intensity and emotion in which your child plays, look no further. Just drop me a line (e-mail) at homerkenpo@aol.com. I cover most areas in Southern Califoria.

Lakewood JV Football vs Mayfair

This is game three for JV and so far they have made me work for each and every shot.  They've had a rough time moving the ball and passing has been rough so far as well.  To make matters worse, their starting quarterback, who is a freshmen, was just bumped up to varsity, which I think is great, but at this moment has left the JV squad with a leading quarterback.

Another player whom has made some big plays on both side of the line received a concussion just prior to the half, which put a big hole in the JV's offense.  I don't like to say people are all-stars or they are all that, but this young make makes plays and never gives up.  Look for his first half shots in this post (#24).

When it's all said and done, I do usually walk away with some nice shots, I just wish they didn't make work so hard to get them   LOL.

Tonight the varsity plays against Mayfair at Belflower High for the Milk Bucket, lets keep that where it belongs, in Lakewood's trophy case.

First Birthday

This past Saturday was my God daughter's kids first birthday.  I'm a camera dude and take my role with a smile knowing my family, however extended it may be, love the shots I create, and of course I love creating them.

It was Ruben's and Lillian's special day, both are beautiful kids and really shined in front of the camera.  I enjoyed taking these shots.

So enjoy their special day.

Lakewood Varsity Football vs Loyola

This was a rough game to shoot as the team I cover lost more yards in penalties then they did running the ball.  Now I know that might be a exaggeration, but its pretty close.  When this happens it's tough to get quality action shots since moving the ball is almost stopped.  I did get some nice shots, but not the shots I want at the end of a game.

This was our first home preseason game.

You never know what the game will bring, so I like to grab some warm-up shots prior to game time.  This allows me to get shots of players who don't see game time, or shots at angles I normally wouldn't get.  In this case it helped as the team I covered had issues with moving the ball forward, which made getting the action tough.  So by shooting some pregame warm-up, I was able to get some great action.

Just something to think about when your shooting a game.

Lakewood JV Football vs Loyola

Week two of preseason football starts with Lakewood JV at home against Loyola.

Here are the highlights from the game and take note of #24 Lakewood, you will be seeing lots of pictures of this young man.  This kid has heart and gives it his all on each and every play, its exciting to watch him both on offensive and defense.

This first shot is for my stalker if your out there looking :)

Huntington Beach Pier - Memorial Weekend

Just when I thought I wouldn't get out to do any shooting besides football the skies give me this (if you close your eyes you can hear the angles sing).  Now it didn't start that way.  As I was driving out to Huntington the skies were pretty void of clouds, but since I was already on the road I thought I'd continue and see what I can get.

Upon arriving I found the beach full of people as it was memorial weekend and very, very hot, but I remained patient and found a spot where I could set my gear up.  I waited for the area to clear and surfers to walk or stand in front of me, which always make for some great shots.

These are all HDR, except for the last one, which I did some tone mapping on.  I use Lightroom, Photoshop (CS5), as well as HDR Efex Pro 2 in my processing.
