Southern Section CIF First Round Playoffs - Poly vs Chaminade

Week 11

Friday Night Lights

Southern Section CIF First Round Playoffs

Poly dominated the Moore League by scoring a total of 403 points and only allowing 23 points being scored against them.  Going into this game I expected Poly to play a tough game, but dominate it as well.  Not taking anything away from Chaminade, as they deserved to be here as well and have a nationally ranked running back that's known for his speed and agility, but what I didn't expect was to see Poly struggle in both the running and passing game.  Chaminade dominated this game from the opening kick off and never let up.

Below you'll find quite a few highlights from the game, which marks my last game of football season.

First Round CIF Playoffs - Lakewood vs Mater Dei

Well this is not the way I wanted to end my football season.

Lakewood made the playoffs and was slated to meet Mater Dei at the Santa Ana Bowl.  The last time Lakewood went up against Mater Dei they lost 70 - 10, so needless to say I wasn't expecting much, although I was hoping for more than what I got.  Lakewood had a rough time from the starting kickoff to the end of the game losing 66 - 14.

As a sports photographer this was a tough game to cover.  I wanted to provide the team, their website, and the local papers some good action, but that's hard to get when the team your covering is having a rough time running and passing the ball.  I was able to walk away with some nice shots, but they were hard to come by.

Below you find my favorite shots from the game.  Here's until next year.

CIF Playoffs (Baseball) - Lakewood Lancers vs Calabasas Coyote's

Covered the first round CIF playoffs with the Lakewood Lancers going against the Calabasas Coyote's at Blair Field.  Although I've covered some baseball this season, this is my first high school game and here we are at the playoffs.  So far I've been able to capture some baseball action with Cal State Long Beach, so this was nice to get out for a high school game, just wish my school had a better game.

Calabasas will continue to the second round of CIF playoffs while Lakewood's season has official ended.

I have to say I was off my game today and missed a lot of good shots.  Some because I missed focused and others simply because I was in the wrong position, but even with that being said I am very happy with what I did end up with and have my favorites here to share.

These were all taken with my 7d mark II and my 300 f/2.8L

Jordan High vs Palm Desert - CIF Playoffs 2nd Round

Covered the 2nd round of the CIF Playoffs for boys soccer with Jordan High going against Palm Desert at Jordan High School.

This was a very aggressive game on both sides, which provided me with some nice action to capture.

I haven't been covering much sports action lately, so it was nice to get out and shoot this game.  I used my new Canon 7D Mark II for this game and felt better with it and the controls.  I think this is going to be a great addition to my gear.

Please enjoy the shots as much as I enjoyed taking them.
