Lakewood Varsity Football vs Bosco

Wow, I thought our freshmen game was rough to cover, but the varsity was much harder.  Basically the defense was having major problems stopping Bosco's offense and our offence was having a very rough time moving the ball, which greatly limits the possibilities for action.  Now add the fact that its under the lights, which already limits the amount of shots I can get - well it was rough.

With that said I did my best to capture our Lakewood boys in action and after looking at what I got, I think I succeeded in doing just that.

Now lets start off with a shot of a few cheerleaders.

I thought this was a great shot taking just prior to the sun setting (golden hour) as the team ran towards the sideline after the national anthem.  Really like the way this shot came out.

Lakewood Freshmen Football vs Bosco

Week two of high school football finds the Lakewood freshmen team going against St. John Bosco.

Coming into this game I knew it would be tough, but didn't think it would be as bad as it was.  Bosco dominated the game, which made it hard to capture Lakewood in action.  Not much was working for them with either their passing or running game, but I was able to get some good shots of them.

I question weather I should give this secrete out or not, but that's really what I'm all about, sharing and help others achieve a higher level of sports action photography.  So with that being said the below shot was taking during their warm up prior to game time.  When able I will get to the game early to grab some shots of the receivers, quarterbacks, and even the cheerleaders.  During a game its hard to capture the receivers in action, so by taking some shots of them during the warm up, well its gives them a chance to get some great shots of themselves doing what they do.  Now even though this was taken during their warm up, you still need to be steady and have great timing to get just the perfect shot.

Lakewood Varsity Football vs St John Bosco

Week two found our varsity away at St John Bosco for what was expected to be a tough game. Well Bosco or Lakewood didn't let your fans down, it turned out to be a tough game for Lakewood won over Bosco with a 27-7 victory.

Although Lakewood ended the game with a 20 point lead, they worked hard to get each gained yard and earned point. Great game to watch and shoot.

Once again I decided to leave the flash in my bag. Settings were ISO 3200, f/2.8, and a shutter around 1/250 to 1/320 by the second half. Still had to use my old reliable 70-200 f/2.8 on this as the 300 was still out at Canon for repair.

Lakewood Freshmen Football vs St John Bosco

Week two and second pre-season game finds me back at Lakewood High covering the freshmen team once again. These boys had another great game and dominated Bosco with their second win of the season.

Enjoy the pictures as I enjoyed taking them. All were taken with my 70-200 f/2.8 as my 300 f/2.8 is still at Canon being repaired.
