Week 2

Once football season starts I begin taking Thursdays off from work so I can cover the JV or Freshmen game, which ever is at home.  I shoot this game to get my timing set and to simply get some nice action shots.

Here are some highlights from the Lakewood JV vs La Serna game, which was held at Lakewood High.

Lakewood Varsity Football vs La Serna

Week two found the Lakewood Lancers going against the La Serna Lancers at Pioneer High School.  This was expected to be another tough game for Lakewood.  Lakewood came out strong against La Serna on both sides of the ball and although they ended up losing 21-19, they played with heart and never gave up.  This was a game if not for mistakes Lakewood could have easily brought this home as a win.

Again this game was shot manually at f/2.8 and with a shutter starting around 1/2500 and quickly dropping to 1/800 once the light was gone.  As for an ISO, I believes I started around 1000 / 1600 and by the time the light was gone I was at an ISO of 10000.  Again I'm very pleased with how my camera (Canon 7D mk ii) handled the low light.
