Sunset at the Pier - Seal Beach

With football in season now I haven't had much time to get out for some sunsets, well yesterday while driving home from work I thought the clouds looked promising, so I decided to go home and get my gear and head out to Seal Beach.  I would have preferred to go to Huntington Beach, but that would have put another 20-possible 30 min's to my drive, so I decided to simply go to Seal Beach, which I'm glad I did.  Not only was it a nice cool evening, with some good looking clouds, but a photographer friend of mine was there as well doing the exact same thing I was doing, shooting sunsets at the pier.
So after doing some shooting I had a pleasant chat with my friend, David, who does some great work in itself.
So enjoy the shots.

Lakewood Varsity Football vs Cabrillo

After a major loss against Poly last week Lakewood found themselves on the road against Cabrillo ,a team which has never won a game against Lakewood.
This game had the makings of being a game controlled on both sides of the field by Lakewood, but unfortunately Cabrillo had something else in mind.  They came will all chambers loaded and played a hard game from the get go.  Although Lakewood was able put some six on the board first, Cabrillo followed quickly with seven of their own.
After a few failed passes and opportunities to score, Cabrillo increased their lead to 14 going into the half.
During the second half Lakewood came out strong putting another six on the board and after a successful 2 point attempt tied the game.  Going into the forth quarter the game was set at 14-14.
Again Lakewood gave up multiple opportunities to score and dropped a few passes.  This game came down to the last seconds when Cabrillo faked a P.A.T and ran the ball in for a touchdown.  With 1.1 seconds left on the board Lakewood had one final attempt to score.  As Lakewood played all night, it was a failed pass attempt.

Now although Lakewood lost this game, it was a great game to shoot with some good action on both sides of the field.
Here are my favorites from the game - Enjoy.

Lakewood Freshmen Football vs Cabrillo

Well I planned on covering the JV game, but once I got to Lakewood I found Cabrillo had no JV team, so I then drove to Cabrillo High School where the freshmen were playing to cover their game.

Here are some of my favorites from the game.

Lakewood Varsity Football vs Poly

For most people in Long Beach, the Lakewood / Poly game is considered the Super Bowl of the Moore League, well it used to be.  It was the game in which the victor would go on to win League Champs.

The last couple of years Lakewood has had a rough time providing a consistent defense and offense.  Although Lakewood will and does make great plays, their lack of consistency in their ability to do has and resulted in big losses against Poly.

With that said, this was a tough game to shoot.  Don't get me wrong, I love shooting the inside workings of a game and grabbing those very dramatic sportraits of the players while their on the field, but I do love getting the action and when your team is getting pounded and having a rough time getting anything started, well the action is almost non-exsistant.

In the end I am happy with the shots I captured.  So enjoy the shots, which cover's both Lakewood and Poly.

Lakewood JV Football vs Poly

This is the team for Lakewood to beat.  Each and every season first place is almost always decided by this game, with the winner going on to take the Moore League.
Unfortunately this will not be Lakewood's time to be crowned Moore Leagues champs.
So below you'll find some of my favorites from the game.
