Welcome to my blog. Looking through my posts you will find that I love and have a passion for photography and although my expertise so to speak is in Sports Action, I have been getting into wildlife and senior portraits. No matter what I'm shooting I want to bring my client the best possible shot I can and give them / you a photograph that you will cherish for a lifetime. If your looking for someone to capture your child in action, to show the intensity and emotion in which your child plays, look no further. Just drop me a line (e-mail) at homerkenpo@aol.com. I cover most areas in Southern Califoria.

Lakewood Varsity Football vs Gahr

Now that I covered my first Varsity game under the lights and yes it was on a Friday, I can officially say its football time and what would football be without our beautiful cheerleaders.  So with that I want to start with a few shots of them doing their thing.

As I edit my shots I am always looking for a shot that will translate well into my b&w conversion, so what you want about it, but I like it.

Now to the acton.

Ok, I said in the past I would give more background on how I got the shot.  For this game I will cover the shot below.  First my settings were ISO 3200 (as high as my camera goes), f/2.8, and a shutter of 1/320.  For this shot I positioned myself behind the line of scrimmage.  The team I was covering was on defense and I wanted to get some shots of the defense putting presure or even sacking the quarterback, so as the quarterback dropped back to pass #52 came in from the outside and provided the presure.  This gave me some very nice shots of the quarterback scrambling towards my side to avoid the tackle.  No flash was used as I don't really care for the look of flashed shots in football.

Lakewood Freshmen Football vs Gahr

Can I get a huge shout out for Football.  It is that time of year again.

For my opening and first game of the season I covered Lakewood freshmen as they competed against Gahr.  It was a decent game but you sure could tell it was the first game of the season.  In the end Lakewood won the game 26-12 with a great performance by the defense.

So enjoy the shots and hopefully your looking forward to another year of great action as much as I am.

I can't help myself, but often I come to a few shots that I think simply look great in this action I made my own.  Actually it's an action that Scott Kelby does, but I convert it to b&w, which in my personal opinion gives it a great look and feel.

With a new year of football comes new cheerleaders, which have to get comfortable with me being around them taking pictures.  So during the first few games I keep my shooting of them to a minimal until they get used to having me around and become more comfortable.  So I will only have one shot at this time, but in reality, its for my stalker friend (you know who your are).

Bolsa Chica - Fading Light

Went out to Bolsa Chica recently for a nice evening walk about.  This will more than likely be my last trip out there this year now that football is in full swing.

So I got out there a little late and the sun was already setting low.  So I just did what I normally do, walk around and enjoying the fresh air while I simple take what I can.  No worries as I know no matter how active the birds are there is always something from me to shoot.  And this evening  was no exception.  Since all I had was the 300, I did what I could for a few sunset shots, which I think came out rather nice.
