Day at the fair "OC Fair"

As of this post I am caught up from my vacation.  Just this past week the wife and I spent the day at the OC Fair.  It's been years, if not longer, since we have been to a fair and we both had a very nice time.  We spent the day simply walking around and enjoying the food of the fair.

The main purpose for me wanting to hit up the fair was to see the photography exhibit and what shots placed.  I have a photographer friend who wants me to enter some shots into the OC Fair and I think I'll have to take her advice and enter it next year.  I'm not saying I would win because I did see quite a few outstanding shots, one being my friends, but I do think I have a chance.

These shots are just random and things that simply caught my eye.  So enjoy and keep smiling.

Riley's Farm / Oak Glen

Last week my dad and I took a drive to Oak Glen followed by a visit to Riley's Farm.  There really wasn't anything that stood out for me to take some shots of.  That was until we went to the General Store at Riley's Farm.  We stopped by to take a look and I found the store fascinating.  Prior to leaving I asked the young man (Samuel) who worked there if I could take a few shots with my tripod.  After a yes I set my gear up and took the following shots, although I screwed up.  With the first shot you see I did a 5 shot HDR, but over exposed a bit and when I did the following shot with my in camera 3 bracket shots I forgot to adjust my exposure, but I was able to make it work.

The last shot is for a friend of mine who loves horses and cows.  If she sees this entry she'll know who I'm talking about.

Various Visits to the Wetlands

This will be a long one consisting of various shots from my recent visits to the wetlands, and yes I did say recent visits (plural).  I've been on vacation and haven't had much in sports to shoot so I've been hitting the wetlands very frequently.

Although I've been enjoying greatly my time in the wetlands I am so ready for some football, which will start just this next month.  So I hope all of you who visit my blog are ready for some football as well.

To start this entry I'll start with a shot of my dad, who I've gotten to come out with me on a couple occasions.  Ya know when they hit a certain age you just lose control :).

After going through these shots prior to uploading them here I was wondering what is my style if one was to ask.  I'm not sure how I would answer that because I don't think I really have a style.  I do so many different things to my sports, portraits, wildlife, and landscapes that I can't really say I have a style.  Maybe you can, and if so, what would you call my style.

When I head to shoot I have nothing specific in mind, especially when it comes to wildlife.  I know what I'd like to see, but I have no control over that, so I like to say I'll go and see what the wetlands has to offer me.  I think I use that same method with almost all I shoot.  I know what I would like to achieve, but that's not always what happens when I get where I want to go.  So I keep an open mind and my camera ready.

Now that is only part of it, because once I get home, well that's when the magic starts.  I have a standard editing process I use, but once I start to do my thing I will often think it has potential to go in another direction.  And that's my magic.

Now that we got that one out of the way lets start with what the wetlands presented to me during the last few trips.

In closing I want to leave you with a few sunset shots, ok their not sunsets, but they have that evening glow through the wildflowers.  Love shots like this.
