Lakewood Varsity Football vs Narbonne

First I want to say this post is dedicated to this solider, just returning home.  I wish I had his info so I can post it here, but unfortunately I don't.  If in time I get his name I will update this post, as he deserves it and I tip my hat to him.

This was the game, last year Narbonne simply dominated and destroyed us on their home field with a 61-6 win.  Although Narbonne came out strong putting 12 points on the board in the first quarter, we came back stronger putting up 15 points by the end of the first half.  Well that's where our zest stopped.  Narbonne returned in the second half with 21 unanswered points.

With that this was another tough game to shoot, especially in the second half.  Passing wasn't working and not getting much if any open field runs.

But of course I did get some nice shots as you knew I would :)

Lakewood Freshmen Football vs Narbonne

This is my first freshmen game of the season, so with this game I've covered all three levels at Lakewood.  Now I take great pride in being able to get some great action shots, but so far this year Lakewood is making me work for the shots.

I'm not an expert on football by any means, hell I'm not even an armature, but they really need to focus on the basics to get their act together when league play starts in two weeks.

With that said, here are some shots from this past Thursday's freshmen game.

Halloween is on the way "Disneyland"

My daughter wanted to visit Disneyland yesterday (Sunday) to see the Halloween decorations as well as ride Space Mountain to see what was done inside the ride for Halloween.

So the wife, my daughter, and I went to spend the afternoon / early evening at Disneyland, and of course I brought my camera.  I mean how could I not.

The first stop was the Haunted Mansion, which is always a classic, especially during Halloween.  Next stop was Space Mountain, which much to my surprise, the wife was going to ride, so I told her and our daughter to enjoy the ride while I walked around taking pictures and it was just about time for the parade.  Once we separated I found myself a nice spot for the parade and took some shots followed by some character closeups.

Took one final shot before we left the park.  The wife had to work, so my daughter and I went home while the wife stayed to make someones visit at Disneyland magical.

Seal Beach Sunset

This past Saturday I decided to get out and try my luck at some sunsets.  Now there weren't any clouds to speak of, but there was a haze so I was hoping for some nice bright balls of orange in the sky, but my luck wasn't with me.  The sun was bright, but since I took the time to drive out to Seal Beach and an retired supervisor of mine came out to visit, I thought the least I could do was take a shot or two.

This is pretty much it, the one shot that worked for me and really what I envisioned that evening.  Following this shot we took a walk to Cold Stone's Creamery for some ice cream.  Nothing makes a great evening than ice cream.

"The Milk Bucket" Lakewood Varsity Football vs Mayfair

Every year during preseason Lakewood and Mayfair meet to determine who will bring home the Milk Bucket.  This year it was decided on Mayfair's home field at Belflower High School.

This is a field I enjoy shooting on as I can get my shutter up to 1/400 and still be slightly over exposed, which is ideal for me and what I do.

I focused on more sportrait style shots as well as getting some cheer shots, but don't fret, as I did get some great action as well.

Oh and the final score for this bout was 43-0 Lakewood, who maintains the Milk Bucket.
