Huntington Beach Pier Sunset

Another great evening to be at the beach.  I've been loving the weather we've been having lately and having a great time capturing the sunsets.  Now I need to find some new places to go.
In the mean time enjoy some this past weekend.

Bolsa Chica Wetlands

Spent some time with the wife in the wetlands walking and enjoying a great day.  There wasn't much activity, but of course I did find a few things to take some shots of.  Oh and I save my best shot for last :)

Thought I should take a shot of my one true love.

Huntington Beach Pier - Colorless Sunsets

Since I've been getting into my HDR and sunsets I keep my eyes on the clouds and whenever the clouds look interesting I head out to the beach when able.  Well this past Saturday the clouds looked liked they would produce some interesting formations and colors so I took the drive to Huntington Beach.

Now the closer I got to the beach the less clouds I saw until I arrived and there wasn't a cloud in the sky, or above and around the beach.  I decided to wait it out because things can change, but this sunset wasn't meant to be.  Without the clouds or color I decided to get a few shots to bring home and play with, so here is what I came up with.

Enjoy

Lakewood Varsity Girls Soccer vs Jordan

Its been slow for me since football season has ended mostly to I haven't had a big desire to get out on my own to shoot some sports.  Been enjoying the down time and shooting other things, such as my beach sunsets.

Recently I was asked by the paper I shoot for to cover a girls soccer game.  Now I was asked to cover Poly and Millikan at Poly, but this game was cancelled due to standing water on the field, so I was directed to Lakewood to cover their game.

Been some time since I've shot some soccer, but it was great being out shooting a game.

Below are a few of my favorites from the game - enjoy.

Huntington Beach Pier Sunset

I take it when I can and this past Sunday was a great day to be at the beach shooting sunsets.  So here are some of my favorites from that evening out.

Huntington Beach Pier Sunset

Can you tell football is over for me.  With my added free time I now get to shoot some non-sport stuff, this usually means wildlife from the wetlands or a sunset at either Seal Beach or Huntington Beach.

In this case it was Huntington beach.  My son had a very early day at work and got off at 11am, once he came home and cleaned up a bit him and I went out to lunch at a place called Stacked in Cerritos.  I've found my new favorite burger place.  It was excellent.

What does this have to do with Huntington Beach, well nothing :), but on the way home the clouds were just WOW, so I dropped my son off at home, got my gear, and headed out to Huntington Beach.  Now it was early, but I thought I'd get some pier and beach shots from the other side of the pier.

I did stay for a couple of hours waiting for the sunset and as it grew later the clouds started to dissipate, but I stuck it out and took some shots until all the color was gone.

Here are my favorites from this afternoon / evening out.

Disneyland Walkabout

Yesterday morning while off from work, I was relaxing at home having my first (and only) cup of coffee thinking about what I should do for the day.  I did have some Christmas shopping I wanted to do, but once I'm done with that I would have the whole after none open.  So while I drank my coffee watching morning cartoons the wife suggested I go to Disneyland and take pictures.  So after putting some thought into it I got my gear together and then headed out to take care of my small list of things to do.  Once done I headed to Disneyland.

Now initially I thought I'd bring my 300 with me to get some great isolated Bokeh shots, but as I drove I saw the sky had something else in mind.  The clouds were nice big fluffy clouds and just screamed for me to shoot some wide and possibly HDR shots.  So I brought in my 24-70, along with my tripod to do some shooting.

Now I did play with all of these shots, either doing an HDR or messing around in Topaz.

Enjoy.
