Welcome to my blog. Looking through my posts you will find that I love and have a passion for photography and although my expertise so to speak is in Sports Action, I have been getting into wildlife and senior portraits. No matter what I'm shooting I want to bring my client the best possible shot I can and give them / you a photograph that you will cherish for a lifetime. If your looking for someone to capture your child in action, to show the intensity and emotion in which your child plays, look no further. Just drop me a line (e-mail) at homerkenpo@aol.com. I cover most areas in Southern Califoria.

Lakewood Red & White Football

Lakewood Football held their Red & White inter squad scrimmage game today, which gave me a chance to see some of the new talent coming up and a few from last year. Here are a few shots from the game.

Senior Prom

This last Saturday (yep, I'm a little behind with the posting) was my son's Senior Prom. Of course I just had to be dad and take a couple of shots at his girlfriends house where they all met for the Limo. It was also requested that I follow them to Seal Beach to take a few shots, but once there it was very windy and cold. So we took a few shots so the young ladies wouldn't freeze too much.

These first two shots were taken at my son's girlfriends house.

These remaining shots were taken at Seal Beach.

Although they were both cold and my son was a little upset that his hair was getting ruined with the wind, they smiled for the camera.

John's Senior Portraits

My son's senior portraits.
I can't believe this time is getting so close, where did it all go. I remember him falling asleep in my arms and on my lap. I remember him sitting on my lap while I played games on the computer. I remember taking him to the hospital for stitches when he split open his chin. So many memories, some good and some bad, but I honesty wouldn't ever want to change a thing.

When I look at him now I see a young man who is getting ready to meet and face the world. What will life hold for him and where will it take him? If we knew the answer to this question then life just wouldn't be all that exciting.

I have been looking forward to taking these for quite some time now and have finally had the opportunity to take them. I have to be honest though. Although I am happy with what I ended up with, I'm not overwhelmed with the results and will let my viewer's be the judge.

All-American Football

Recently I read an article on LBPOSTSPORTS.com about All-American Football returning to Veteran's Stadium in Long Beach. After reading the post I contacted the teams owner, who is also the quarterback for All-American Football, and expressed my interest in coming out and shooting some action. The owner showed a lot of interest and on Saturday I went out to cover their game against Barstow Riffians.

For me it was an opportunity to offer some nice action shots to the All-American Football team and to watch some football.

This was a tough game for the All-American Football team, who were short on players. They weren't able to really get anything started, which in turn led to minimal shots taken.

I was able to walk away with some nice action and a few shots of the Barstow Riffians, so take a look and enjoy. I hope to get out to another game if scheduling permits.

Moore League Finals - Discus

I am going to let you know before hand that this post will be all about my son.

This week in Long Beach the high schools are holding their Moore League Finals for track at Long Beach Community College. Well yesterday my son, who's on the Lakewood Varsity Track team, threw the discus. He has had a very rough year and hasn't placed very high during league competition and didn't make many invitationals. So I didn't have high expectations for him during the finals, but as things go with sports and him, he had his best day this year and ended his season 2nd place for Moore League. Although he didn't qualify for CIF, I am very proud of him. As I said he had a rough year and was giving up inside. After a talk with him he hung in there taking a leader role on the track team with the throwers. It all came to a head yesterday.

I have and will always support my son and I truly love watching him compete, but as any father I hate to see him down or depressed at the end of a meet. All I can do is be there for him and support him, so when he accomplished what he did during the finals I couldn't have been happier for him.

Son, I love you and am very proud of you and your accomplishment this year. Although this may be the last meet I have the opportunity to capture you in action at, I will always be there to support you and watch you compete.

Next year you'll find yourself at the next level of competition at Cerritos College and I wish you the best in all you do. Hopefully I will get the opportunity to continue capturing you in action while you compete.

Angie

Another beautiful young lady. Angie is a close friend of the family and will be graduating this year. I had the opportunity to take her senior portraits this past Sunday and had a very nice time. Thanks Angie for letting me take your portraits and I hope you like the results.
