Welcome to my blog. Looking through my posts you will find that I love and have a passion for photography and although my expertise so to speak is in Sports Action, I have been getting into wildlife and senior portraits. No matter what I'm shooting I want to bring my client the best possible shot I can and give them / you a photograph that you will cherish for a lifetime. If your looking for someone to capture your child in action, to show the intensity and emotion in which your child plays, look no further. Just drop me a line (e-mail) at homerkenpo@aol.com. CIF Track Finals

I covered the CIF Track Finals on behalf of the Long Beach Press Telegram this past Saturday at Cerritos College.  I have to say out of all the events I have the opportunity to cover this is the longest day, but the most enjoyable day.  The field events started at 11am with the track events starting at 1pm.

I arrived about 10am to find decent parking and pick up my credentials.  Once that was taken care of I then walked around taking some warm up shots to get my timing down.

I love shooting the CIF Finals as the level of competition is high, which always provides me with outstanding opportunities for great action shots, now its just my job to capture the action, that one moment in time.

My responsibility for this meet is to capture Moore League athletes as they compete, and when their not competing I will tend to walk around taking various action shots of the other athletes.

There are a bunch of shots in this post as its hard for me to just choose a few.  So enjoy and I hope I inspire you to shoot with intensity and passion as our athletes compete.

James & Daphnie's Wedding

Let's start this post by saying I don't shoot weddings, which as you can see isn't true because you are looking at wedding shots as you read this.  The reality of it is I prefer not to shoot weddings and honestly if I had my way wouldn't ever shoot one, but because I am who I am and I believe one should do things for their family, here I am sharing pictures from my nephew's wedding.

Yep - when your nephew comes to you asking you to shoot his wedding you don't say no, well I don't say no because I do things for my family.

After its all said and done I do wish I would have used a flash, but with shooting sports, which is my expertise, I tend to avoid the flash and simply increase that ISO, which is what I did here.  Are these the best wedding shots your going to see, simply put - HELL no, but do they show two young people who love each other very much coming together - yes.

They haven't seen any shots except for the interior church shots, so I hope they are happy with what I have.

Now to the pictures, I loved the church they choose, which was easy for them as the brides father is the Pastor there and presided over the wedding ceremony.  Once I saw the church I knew I had to get some HDR shots of the interior, which are the first two here.  My daughter loved the light coming in on the second shot and to be honest I love it as well.

Enough talk, now enjoy the shots.

Moore League Track Finals

Track season is winding down.  This past Friday I covered the Moore League Track Finals held at Long Beach Community College.  I really needed this day, I needed simply to be out shooting what I love and having the flexibility to move around.

I've been covering the Moore League for several years now and have been shooting for a local paper for the past 3 years.  I don't think I could have a better deal as a photographer with a paper as I do.  I've given the flexibility to move around and simply shoot.  I give them the shots I know they want with minimal or no direction.

For whatever the reason, this works for both myself and the paper.

I excel when shooting track as I can take so many different type of shots from so many different events.  I believe I convey the action and intensity of these athletes, which in the end is what sports shooting is all about, well at least in my opinion.

There are a lot of shots here in this post, so take a look and enjoy my vision.
