Bolsa Chica Wet Lands

It was the perfect evening to take a walk at the wet lands and of course I brought my camera.  The last time I was there the terns were becoming active and I was hoping the same would happen during my evening outing.  Well I wasn't disappointed, not just were the terns out fishing, but I was able to capture a larger assortment of birds this time around.

A Forster's Tern looking for fish.

A lone cattail as I hiked further into the wet lands - Very peaceful

A Snowy White Egret looking for a place to fish

A Cormorant coming in for a landing

Don't see much of these in the wet lands, but here's a Canadian Goose taking a break

A Marbled Godwit looking for din din

Snowy White Egret fishing

Same Snowy White Egret fishing from a different angle

Forsters Tern coming in for a landing

A Forsters Tern just after hitting the water

Even Forsters Terns' need a break from fishing now and then

Lakewood Track vs Millikan

The last league meet before Moore League Prelims / Finals held next week at Veteran's Stadium at Long Beach Community College.

This meet was very mild with me spending some time talking with prior students / track athlete's and the coach.  It all brings being out to another level.

This week was Lakewood vs Millikan at Millikan High.  The meet went very smooth and before I knew it, well it was over.

I really didn't focus my attention to any specific event, but simply walked about looking for action and things that caught my eye.  Simply put, it was the perfect evening to be out shooting track.

Below are my favorites from the meet as well as this composite I put together just because.  I still have a lot to learn and improve upon, but its still fun just playing and seeing what works and what doesn't work.

Love to hear your thoughts on this first image (composite).

Long Beach Antique Market

The third Sunday of every month the parking lot at Vet's stadium (Long Beach Community College) hosts an Antique market.  Since my wife and I have been remodeling our backyard (a never ending project), we have made attempts to come out early and walk around looking for unique things to go in the back yard or inspire an idea.

This is the second time I've brought my camera along for the trip.  With me its all about the details and minus a nice Macro lens, this is what I see and love to shoot.

Enjoy

Giants T-Ball revisited

Every now and then I'll look through my shots and find something I feel needs something special done to it and since I'm trying to get better at composites that's what I did.  I took one of my shots from my most recent shoot "Giants T-Ball" and played with it a bit.

I will admit I cheated as I purchased this background from someone and only really had to add the little guy, but with some adjustments and tweaks this is what I came up with.

Giants T-ball

I was recently hired to cover a t-ball game :)

I love capturing the action, intensity, and emotion of athletes when shooting sports, but I miss the innocence of the little ones when they play sports.  It's really a whole different method and thought process when covering kids at this age.  Although there is action, its a different type of action, but instead of the action being the priority when shooting kids this age the focus is on their personality and expressions.  Simply put, it's all about capturing kids just being kids.

So with this post its all about me going back to my roots where I really began my sports photography.  "T-Ball".

Enjoy the shots and relive your childhood.
