Welcome to my blog. Looking through my posts you will find that I love and have a passion for photography and although my expertise so to speak is in Sports Action, I have been getting into wildlife and senior portraits. No matter what I'm shooting I want to bring my client the best possible shot I can and give them / you a photograph that you will cherish for a lifetime. If your looking for someone to capture your child in action, to show the intensity and emotion in which your child plays, look no further. Just drop me a line (e-mail) at homerkenpo@aol.com. I cover most areas in Southern Califoria.

Bolsa Chica Wetlands - Skimmers are back

I'm not sure if I have said this, but I absolutely love going to the Bolsa Chica Wetlands.  You just never know what you will see.

In one of the groups I'm a member in on facebook there was a recent post with someone sharing some shots of the skimmers in the wetlands.  After seeing that I just had to get out there to see if I could grab some shots.  The day I decided to go was overcast, which takes away from the pop, but I was able to get a bunch of shots of them doing their thing - "Fishing".

Now you know I can't go to the wetlands without getting some shots of the Egrets and Herons, and I can't forget the tern.

Please enjoy these shots as much as I did taking them.

El Dorado Park

Its been a very long time since I've made my way down to El Dorado Park to shoot the egrets and herons there.  So not to long ago I took the drive up there to see what I could get.  My goal was to get some shots of one of them catching a gopher.  As luck would have it the first one I saw caught one.  I did have to stalk him for about 30-45 min's until he finally caught one, but the resulting shots were worth it.

Used my 7D mark ii and 300 f/2.8L IS lens for these shots.  Camera was hand-held.

CIF Track Finals

Track has officially ended for me and what a note to end it on.

I love covering the CIF Finals as there is always an abundance of talented athletes competing and the only thing left is for my eye to find the action and capture it, by using angles, perspective, and isolation, but for anyone who shoots sports knows, you can't always dictate where your angle and perspective will be and you make the best out of what your given.

I believe these shots will show I captured some great shots with what was dealt me in angles and perspectives.

Please enjoy viewing these as much as I enjoyed shooting them.

CIF Playoffs (Baseball) - Lakewood Lancers vs Calabasas Coyote's

Covered the first round CIF playoffs with the Lakewood Lancers going against the Calabasas Coyote's at Blair Field.  Although I've covered some baseball this season, this is my first high school game and here we are at the playoffs.  So far I've been able to capture some baseball action with Cal State Long Beach, so this was nice to get out for a high school game, just wish my school had a better game.

Calabasas will continue to the second round of CIF playoffs while Lakewood's season has official ended.

I have to say I was off my game today and missed a lot of good shots.  Some because I missed focused and others simply because I was in the wrong position, but even with that being said I am very happy with what I did end up with and have my favorites here to share.

These were all taken with my 7d mark II and my 300 f/2.8L
