Welcome to my blog. Looking through my posts you will find that I love and have a passion for photography and although my expertise so to speak is in Sports Action, I have been getting into wildlife and senior portraits. No matter what I'm shooting I want to bring my client the best possible shot I can and give them / you a photograph that you will cherish for a lifetime. If your looking for someone to capture your child in action, to show the intensity and emotion in which your child plays, look no further. Just drop me a line (e-mail) at homerkenpo@aol.com. I cover most areas in Southern Califoria.

Long Beach Middle School Flag Football Championships

Still trying to get all caught up with all of the sporting events I covered over the last few days.

Before the volleyball championships were over I had to head on over to the football field for the flag football championships.  This is the first year volleyball has gone first, which made being outside for football at 1pm made for a much hotter day, but once I'm on the field shooting I forget about it all and simply get caught up in the moment, or I guess I should really say moments.

As volleyball there is a division I and division two game, with the second game ending at about 4pm, making it a long day.

Here are some of my favorites from those two games.

Long Beach Middle School Volleyball Championships

This past Saturday I covered the Long Beach Middle School Division I & II Girls Volleyball Championships held at Wilson High School.

After staying up way to late the night (I should actually say morning) prior, I almost decided not to go and simply go right back to bed, but in the end I got my gear together and headed out to Wilson High.

I don't shoot much volleyball, but have to say I do enjoy covering middle school volleyball.  Probably because its not as fast pace as high school and lord knows its not even close to college level, but it gives me the opportunity to get some decent shots.

Now enjoy the pictures.

Lakewood Varsity Football vs Millikan

"The Hamilton Trophy"

That is what was on the line for this game.  The Hamilton trophy and bragging rights for the next year.

I think Lakewood came into this game thinking they were simply going to run and pass all over Millikan, but Millikan had something different in mind.  Millikan started the game receiving the ball and continued to move it down field for a field goal drawing first blood.  Although Lakewood returned the favor by taking the ball in for a touchdown, Millikan didn't just stop.  Once they had the chance they drove down field their own touch down giving them the lead once again.  It wasn't until later in the 2nd quarter when Lakewood answered back scoring their second touchdown taking the lead as they went into the half.

The second half of this game was a much different story.  Lakewood played football like they did against Jordan last week and dominated the second half.  Millikan was only able to score once more during the second half.

Lakewood finished the game winning 67 - 17.

Now next week we have a by as the rest of Moore League jockey for playoff spots.  The question for Lakewood at this point is will their first playoff game be at home and who will it be against.  Only time will tell.

Now enjoy some of my favorite shots from the game.

The Hamilton Trophy, this is what it was all about and will remain at Lakewood another year.

Sarah and her Pumpkin

After getting home from covering my last JV football game I found my daughter in the backyard carving her pumpkin.  Well I didn't actually find her, I was more informed and directed to the backyard by my loving wife.

Of course I had to pull out the camera and take a few shots of my sweetheart.  I find this refreshing that being 19 years old (soon to be 20) that my daughter was very excited and having a good time carving her pumpkin.

I love you sweetheart, don't ever change.

Lakewood JV Football vs Millikan

This marks the end of JV football for this season.  I had a blast covering their games and capturing them in action this year and I look forward to seeing them on the field next year on the varsity squad.  I saw a lot of talent and know their going to do an outstanding job next year carrying on Lakewood's tradition.

Once again I start off with some cheerleader shots

Now to the action
