Bolsa Chica Wet Lands

As you can see I've been spending a lot of time in the Bolsa Chica Wet Lands and to be honest I am loving each and every minute of it.

It's been very nice just getting outside in the cool evenings and even more so now that the wife has started coming out with me.

Like each trip in the past I walk with my 300 f/2.8 and 1.4x slung over my shoulder. I tend to walk a little slow so that I can keep my head and eyes on the move, always looking for something to photograph. Needless to say this evening was no exception. As we continued along the trail and about half way to the Heron's nesting area I caught some movement behind me. As I turned I saw the below heron flying almost head level just behind us with his dinner. So I quickly raised my camera and fired off several shots. Out of the group I took this was my favorite.

Just goes to show that if your out and about with camera in hand, be ready and quick to the draw, otherwise the only memory you'll have is your own.

Now for some shots taken along the water.

Marbled Godwit

Belted Kingfisher

Osprey

Snowy Egret

What would a trip to the wet lands be without some sunset shots. Love the color we've been getting in the evenings.
