Leo Carillo Ranch - WindNSea Beach / La Jolla

Had an evening outing with some photographer friends Sunday.  First there was me, the sports shooter, then came Shelly Rosen who does outstanding newborn photography.  Shelly brought her son Matt who is simply a great kid, always a pleasure to have him around on our outings.  Finally there was Peter Tellone who, simply put, does some of the best landscapes and HDR I've seen.

For this outing we decided to head out to Leo Carillo Ranch in Carlsbad for some Peacock shooting.  Its always fun getting out to shoot something out of the norm, especially when its with friends.

I will add, if your ever in Carlsbad and want to see some peacocks Leo Carillo Ranch is the place to go.  They have a great facility with various rustic buildings and a bunch of peacocks, which allow you to get pretty close.

While walking about some kids directed me to frank, who is an albino peacock.  Now I thought that was pretty cool.  A solid white peacock.  I tried to get some unique shots, but things just weren't working for me.  This peacock didn't move around much and when it did another kid decided she wanted to touch it and began to slightly chase it around a bit.  Just before I said something the kids grandfather (assumption) told her she should stop.  I was thinking more like stop or else.  Things are what they are, but I did get away with a few good shots.

Now the ranch closed at 5pm so afterwards we decided to take a drive to WindNSea beach in La Jolla.  This is one of Peter's spots for photography.  We stayed out there until the sun was gone.  Had a great time and a very nice dinner at "The Spot" afterwards.
