Softball CIF Semi-Finals Millikan vs Lakewood

I was hoping I would be asked to cover the CIF Semi-Finals Girls Softball with Millikan and Lakewood High fighting for a spot in the finals, and I wasn't disappointed.

I make it a point to arrive at a shoot location early to see what I have to work with.  This game was held on a high school field, which really doesn't leave a lot of space to shoot from, but this was a semi-final game against two teams in the same league, which meant one of them would continue to the final game, so needless to say the area was packed with fans.  That was just a piece of the puzzle as it turned out.  As I waited for game time photographer after photographer started showing up.  This isn't a good thing as we would all be fighting and jockeying for spots.

As things started I began to do my thing and the first thing I had to deal with was a fan asking me if I was going to be where I was kneeling throughout the game.  My initial thought was really dude, I'm barely poking around the fence to get shots of the batter, but it is what it is and I simply told him I plan on moving all over the place during the game and I did.  I simply moved around when I found an opening and shoot from various locations.  Initially I was thinking of heading out halfway through the game, but really don't like to leave until its all said and done.

So I stayed and got what I got, which I am pleased with.

Bolsa Chica Wetlands

Yep, another post from Bolsa Chica Wetlands.  I can't help myself, its a great place to get a good walk going, relax in the fresh air, and see such a wide variety of wild life.

Now this time out I did have a purpose, but failed to acquire it.  I went out to search for some burrowing owls I heard were in the area, but couldn't find them.  So I simply enjoyed the walk and took shots as they presented themselves.

I was only out a short time before I got a call from my brother-in-law about coming over for a bbq, so I left early to enjoy a dinner with family.

Hope you enjoy the shots as much as I enjoy the bbq :)

Bolsa Chica Wetlands

This past Friday was a beautiful day and although I spent most of it at work, once I got home I took advantage of it by heading to the wetlands with camera in hand.

I wasn't disappointed and enjoyed the weather as I walked about taking pictures.  Just prior to heading back to where my car was parked I observed some skimmers fishing and waited.  I was able to get some great shots of them fishing before heading back.

Enjoy

Kirstyn - Senior Portraits

Here we go again, the sports guy doing senior portraits, well once again I surprised myself.  Its not a matter of thinking I'm all that, because I know I'm far from it, but I went into this shoot rather nervous.  Most, well if not all of my prior senior portraits have been done for friends and I'm not talking about the parents.  All of my prior seniors I have known and already felt comfortable around them.  So in this shoot I really stepped out of my comfort zone, but this is something I would love to do more of.

Within the first few minutes I knew all was going to be great, not because of the shots, but I kept to my true form and personality and we were both comfortable after a few shots.  Once those first few moments & shots were over we could both relax and enjoy the shoot.

Kirstyn is a beautiful young lady and it was my pleasure to capture her beauty in these shots.
