Torrance JV Football vs Lawndale

Since Lakewood had a by this week I decided to get out to my nephew's football game to get more action of him. This game didn't start until 5pm, which meant that it would go into the night and under the lights. I anticipated this and brought my flash and battery pack, but I forgot my flash extender. So I made do with what I had and just changed my settings as the sun went down and the lights came on.

You will notice that my nephew has a cast on his right arm. During his last game he brought his thumb. The family was unsure he could play, but after talking to their doctor he got the O.K. to play.

I did manage to take a few actions shot of the game when not capturing my nephew in action.

Well, since the game started at 5pm I had to deal with the lights. I was prepared for this, at least somewhat. I did bring my flash (580ex), but forgot to bring my new flash extender. I was able to grab a few shots of my nephew under the lights.

I just liked the way this shot looked when looking through my view finder.

Carson Colts "The little Guys"

One of my co-workers has a grandson who is playing pop-warner football and before this season started I offered to come out to a game and capture him in action. Well this last Saturday was the day. I received a call from my co-worker that this was their last game, so Saturday morning I went to a nearby high school to get her grandson in action. This young man played offense as Center and defense and the nose guard. These first few shots are of him in action.

Now this is what it's all about. I just love shooting youth sports. I've had said in the pass that the higher you get with youth sports and especially into high school the better the action, but there is nothing better than watching the little ones play sports. They may not provide a photographer with the best action, but they do play with intensity and most importantly, they are just so darn cute. You just look at these little guys with those big helmets. Here are a few sportraits of a few players.

Here are some hightlights from the game.

The Hamilton Bowl "Lakewood vs Millikan"

If you are interested in viewing or puchasing pictures from this game just click on the above title.

The Hamilton Bowl.

This was a rough game for Lakewood. Defense started off strong stopping Millikan on all attempts to score, while the offense moved the ball at a steady pace. That was until the fourth quarter, where Millikan scored three consecutive touch downs. They came to within a touch down to tie the game when Lakewood stepped up their offense and scored another touch down while the defense stopped any chance Millikan had of making a come back.

So the Hamilton trophy will stay at Lakewood for another year. Below are few highlights from the game.

Lakewood Freshmen Football vs Millikan

If you are interested in see all the pictures from this game, just click on the above title. There you can view and order prints if you wish.

Once again Lakewood's Jr. Varsity came ready to play some football. Defense did a great job slowing down and stopping the Millikan offense while Lakewood's offense moved the ball very well to win the game.

Below are some fun shots and some highlights from the game.

Just some hightlights from the game.

This poor kid (#15) had a rough time. As you can see from these next three shots he took some hard hits from Lakewood defense. Now I will give credit where credit is due, and he definitely deserves it. In the first two shots he was able to get the pass off each time before being put hard on his back by #57 (Lakewood)

As you can see in this shot #15 (Millikan) wasn't as fortunate to get this pass off as he did in the above two shots.

Girls U16 Youth Soccer "FC Long Beach Silver Elite"

If you are interested in viewing or purchasing pictures from this game just click on the above title.

Finally had a chance to get this some action shots of this team. This team has a lot of talent and plays a tough game through and through. Even though they loss this one, they did play a tough game.

In baseball a shot that is often attempted but seldom obtained is the bob (ball on bat) shot. So here is something different, a kob (knee on ball). Nothing special, but I like the look of the ball compressed onto her knee.

I just dig this girl (goalie). I have had the opportunity to capture her in action for four years now. The first time I photographed her was when she was in middle school and the school I was shooting played them in the playoffs. She was very aggressive then and has only gotten more aggressive and better. I love photographing people that give it their all and she is definitely one of them.

OK now, you should have expected to see these shots.
